Beaver Dam

This project is located on a well-treed site. One of the project goals was to preserve as many mature trees as possible, as well as the existing sub-surface drainage patterns by minimizing impact to the site excavation and grading. Several design features were incorporated to accomplish this. Slender piers were used as a building foundation rather than a continuous spread footer. A bridge links the street level with the main entry to allow root systems to remain undisturbed. Rectangular building masses are oriented in the direction of the topography to minimize cut and fill. A rotunda entry acts as the central pivot of both residences.
