A familiar Vail landmark since the 1960s, 288 Bridge Street, previously known as the Rucksack Building, was riddled with incremental additions and modifications that made for a less than cohesive architectural statement. The Rucksack was ripe for a new look. It needed better retail exposure and architectural consistency of material and form. The design challenge was to do all this consistent with the Bridge Street traditions of modest scale, mountain resort materials and inviting low key retail frontage.
